Who we are:
We gather in a variety of ways throughout the week — from Bible-centered groups to shared meals, conversations, hangouts and large group Fridays. Whether you’re a Christian or just curious, you’re welcome to come as you are and find your place among us.
The Grove is a Christian community at the University of British Columbia and surrounding metro Vancouver area. Inspired by the early church in the book of Acts, we’re a diverse group of students and friends seeking to grow in our faith, experience Jesus, and journey through college and life together. Like a grove, we’re learning to put down roots, grow side by side, and become a community where faith and friendship can flourish.
Meet our mentors
In July 2025, a group of friends from our church network moved from all over the United States (Washington, California, Indiana and Minnesota) to Vancouver to start a college church and share the hope of Jesus. For many of us, college was a transformative time. Jesus’ all-consuming call grabbed a hold of our hearts as we experienced the power of God’s word and the richness of a biblical community. It’s an experience we want to pass on to others—and we’d love for you to be part of this new beginning!
Meet our leads
Eugene & Cynthia Peng
Hi! We're Eugene & Cynthia, and we lead The Grove here in Vancouver. By day, Eugene works as a lawyer, and Cynthia is a grad student at Regent College. Eugene grew up as an atheist, and Cynthia grew up one foot in the church and one foot out. But by God's grace, we both met Jesus (and each other!) at church during our undergrad years. Since then, following Jesus has taken us on quite an adventure, from Taiwan and California to Minnesota and now Vancouver. We love walking alongside college students as they explore faith, life, and purpose, and we’re excited to meet you.
